A statue by John Gibson. Not generally my kind of thing. But somehow, her delicacy, in the light gently filtered through the opaque windows of the Royal Academy’s Sackler Wing… lovely.

Jude referred me to your post on this sculpture. She seems to think I'm into navel gazing at this time!!
I've never worked out how sculpters carve marble and never break off last little finger at the last moment.
But maybe they start there?

What a fabulous piece of sculpture.
My late mother and aunt went to Blackburn House School (for girls) in Liverpool, and every day they passed by one of his sculptures in the main hallway..."Hylas surprised by the Nympmphs". My mum thought it was a wonderful work of art(as I do). I'll put a photo of it in my blog next week.
