Cold crocuses To make up for that last one, which doesn’t really add to the happiness quotient in cyberspace, here’s a view from Kew Gardens last weekend.
There were carpets of crocuses, but in the pale light and hunkered down as the tender flowers were, collars up against the icy wind, they almost looked like scatterings of mauve-tinted snow. We’ve had some short bursts of warm sunshine in the past few days. As I unzipped my coat, took off my purple gloves and stretched out my pale fingers, I thought of the cold crocuses and hoped they were doing the same.

Tamar, this pic was taken on Saturday 5 and it's been very cold since (though warming up a bit now). I think the crocuses will very likely be gone by the time you're in London and you may hit the hiatus between crocuses/daffodils and bluebells. The orchids are gone from the glasshouse too. Kew Gardens is actually a bit bleak at present and I think there are many more enjoyable things to do (this for instance: http://www.craftscouncil.org.uk/Exhib/k2together/index.htm They don't feature on the website, but I believe that knitted hand-grenades and knitted penises also feature... Haven't managed to get there myself yet) Hope you have a great trip and conference.
